About
I completed my PhD thesis, Developing Cinematic Culture: A South American Case Study at the University of Glasgow. It was successfully examined in Dec 2009 and has been converted into a full-length manuscript that was published as South American Cinematic Culture: Policy, Production, Distribution and Exhibition. I recently began a position as Lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington.
My teaching and research interests will continue to focus on Latin American film and other cinema outside Europe and the US. I have a strong interest in how these cinemas link to contemporary factors and institutions such as film festivals, cultural policy, new technology and piracy.
I have also been following the new wave of 3D films closely, leading to an informal piece in The Drouth magazine, various conference papers and forthcoming journal articles. In particular, I am interested in the challenges 3D films pose to scholarly understanding of film aesthetics.
